Surrey Bar Association

Hanson Wirsig Matheos is pleased to announce that both Kirk Wirsig and Sarando Matheos, partners of the firm, are on the executive committee of the newly formed Surrey Bar Association. Mr. Wirsig is President and Sarando Matheos is Secretary-General of the Surrey Bar Association.

Hanson Wirsig Matheos was instrumental in organizing Surrey 's first bar association. We worked with a number of local law firms, including Caissie & Company, McQuarrie Hunter and Hamilton Duncan Armstrong & Stewart.

The Surrey Bar Association is a voluntary professional organization made up of lawyers coming together for a common purpose.

The purpose of the Surrey Bar Association is to:

  • Enhance the professional and commercial interests of its members
  • To support members' professional education
  • Promote fair justice systems and facilitate effective law reform
The idea arose through a growing number of Surrey lawyers who believe that Surrey has grown and matured to such a degree that the time has come for this city to have its own bar association.

The City of Surrey is geographically and demographically unique and having its own bar association will benefit both lawyers and the greater community. There is a tremendous amount of legal expertise available in Surrey , including a number of lawyers who are committed to pro bono work and other activities serving the residents of Surrey.

The Surrey Bar Association celebrated its inaugural meeting on September 21, 2006 with guest speakers that included the Honourable Wally Oppal, Attorney-General.
